Even more social media than ever before.
We are making use of You Tube videos.
Asking volunteers to inform clients
publicity to recruit volunteers
For recruitment of volunteers our State Bar Association and Administrative Office of the Courts are circulating information regarding our trainings on their listservs
Yes, on Bar website and Facebook ads!
We have definitely had an increase in the number of attendees at our CLE's which has resulted in an increase in the number of volunteers - we are continuing to follow up with attendees to try to recruit them.
could/should the organization you mentioned disable comments on their social media? unfortunately, I think criticism of the legal system is pretty common...
If anyone needs more law students, let Marissa know. Many students had their law firm start dates delayed and are looking for pro bono that can be done remotely.
we haven’t seen a great increase in participating attorneys but our numbers have increased by 50%- not sure if this is due to Facebook ads
Thanks! (I can vouch for law student interest in pro bono!)
Our Court is creating an ADR option for eviction cases and they are asking for pro bono attorneys to both serve as mediators and to volunteer to represent tenants through our agency.
Where is that?
The program we use for the videos is Lumen5. We have a subscription, but it’s not terribly expensive
We've been making videos using Prezi.
This was done in English and Spanish. https://www.facebook.com/legalactionWI/videos/255604852309319/
We're in Phase One in Louisiana. Most legal aid providers and law firms are taking a very slow approach. June 8th is our tentative return to office date.
Florida has started reopening and some folks are starting to go back in to the office a couple days a week
West Virginia is starting to open up but our office are doing Phases we do have 3 people in our office right now the courts are opening slowly
but we are limiting the number of staff in the office, taking temps, cleaning all common areas, and the office remains closed to everyone else, including clerks. we don't plan on having any clerks in till 2021
Example Lumen5 video: https://youtu.be/25yL7PpjfRo
we have not discussed and kind of waiver
Im Shawna, Im in Texas and the state is on Phase 2. The Law School is open but students can only study in groups of five or less for now.
Here in N. AZ (DNA Legal Aid),we are slowly reopening, however, some of our offices are located on the Navajo Nation Reservation and they have very strict restrictions due to how hard they have been hit with the pandemic. We dont know how long we will be closed for physical clients but are still open by phone.
Here in Delaware our state is in phase 1 of reopening but our office is located on the law school campus and I just checked with the Dean about the plan for when we can return to campus and he said they do not have a timeline in place yet - all summer activities/classes are going to be done remotely. We have to follow whatever guidelines are put in place by the law school.
Any one coming into our building has to wear a mask. Any two people in an single office has to wear a mask.
Cheryl - can you share that with the group when you find out?
In West Virginia the law firms are “laying” off the attorneys. Is that happening in other States?
We can share that information on next week's call
yes. one of our firms laid several dozen recently
including a bunch of pro bono stars 😥
Marcia, it's a national firm but one that we've worked a lot with 😥
